Event: 2024 Understanding the Corporate Transparency Act

Description: The Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) goes into effect January 1, 2024. The CTA is designed to combat money laundering and other financial crime by requiring a broad range of business entities to disclose information about their owners and persons who exercise control to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (“FinCEN”), a bureau of the U.S. Treasury. Although simple in concept, it is technical in its application. Join us as we partner with the North Alabama Society of HR Management (NASHRM) to host a presentation on who this new reporting requirement impacts and when, and what it will take to comply.

Description: The Huntsville/Madison County Chamber hosts the 88th Annual Membership Meeting to celebrate the many accomplishments of 2023 and look ahead to a successful 2024! Lynn Troy, the Chamber’s 2023 Board Chair and President of Troy7, will pass the gavel to Chair-Elect Sameer Singhal, President & CEO of CFD Research. The Distinguished Service Award will also be presented. This is the highest honor the Chamber bestows to a deserving volunteer in the Huntsville/Madison County community.

Our scheduled speaker is Cassi Chandler, an innovator, strategist, investigator, and leader who has broken barriers, led diverse teams, and built cultures of motivational leadership and inclusivity at some of the world’s most important organizations, including Bank of America and the FBI. In a career that has included many “firsts” across the U.S. government and financial services industries, Chandler served as the FBI’s first African American female special agent assistant director as well as the Bureau’s first female national spokesperson and director of public and community affairs. She is also the founder, president, and CEO of Vigeo Alliance – a leadership and talent risk management partner helping organizations elevate their cultures through diversity and inclusion. Through her work, Chandler is dedicated to helping organizations position themselves for success by building more diverse and inclusive cultures that thrive.

Description: The Chamber’s annual trip to the State Capitol provides an opportunity for business and community leaders to meet with key state government officials. While in Montgomery, we will meet with Gov. Ivey and the leadership of the Alabama Legislature.

The trip provides an excellent opportunity to network with other community leaders and press our critical state issues. We are pleased to be joined by the Madison Chamber this year. If you are a member of the Madison Chamber, you should have received a discount code from them.

The Montgomery Trip will be an overnight stay. Travelers are welcome to drive themselves or “leave the driving to us.” Buses will depart from the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber parking lot at 1 p.m. on March 5 and travel to the Renaissance Hotel in Montgomery for our reception honoring the leaders in State Government. We will depart Montgomery after lunch on March 6, arriving in Huntsville at approximately 5 p.m.

Bus transportation is included in the registration fee, regardless of whether you take the bus or not. Hotel reservation is not included.
