Evolve Government Contracting Growth Summit

On August 25, 2022, Anglin Reichmann Armstrong and PTAC Florida hosted a government contracting growth summit called “Evolve.” This event aimed to connect small, medium, and large companies to discuss government contracting opportunities through networking and educational presentations. The event was held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Ft. Walton Beach, FL.

Our 2022 Evolve speakers brought us a wealth of knowledge, tips, and industry news updates.

Chris Patty, Senior Vice President in Commercial Banking with Bank of America, discussed our Regional Industry Outlook. During Chris’ presentation, he discussed the impact of new funding sources and appropriations, expanding compliance requirements, the focus on small businesses, and contract considerations.

Jason Monroe, Director of Solution Consulting with Bit-Wizards, brought a wealth of knowledge about compliance with CMMC (Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification). Jason explained what CMMC 2.0 is, how it is used to improve government contractors (and sub-contractors) information security, and how the contractors and subcontractors handle that information to recuse compromised data loss in the US adversaries.

Cameron Bowsky, Senior Consultant with Matrix Design Group, Inc., and Scott Hand, Director of Client Accounting & Advisory Services (CAAS) and Partner with Anglin Reichmann Armstrong, presented a tool developed by Matrix to better understand the federal defense sector spending and the economic tie to the state of Florida. The tool depicted which Florida counties that contractors had either been awarded and/or performed work, the dollar magnitude of those contracts, and the supply chain utilized by prime contractors.

Emily Poole, Consultant with McGuire Sponsel, Christopher Cook, Manager with Anglin Reichmann Armstrong, and Jeremy Mosteller, Partner with Anglin Reichmann Armstrong, presented on Using Business Incentives to Grow your Business and Increase Profitability.

After lunch, we split the room into two sections for our break-out session.  In one break-out room, we had Michelle Jenkins, Partner with Anglin Reichmann Armstrong, and Meg Hampton, Manager with Anglin Reichmann Armstrong. They presented on Timekeeping Considerations. Michelle and Meg went over the guidelines for timekeeping for government contractors and the rules they need to follow to record time on projects adequately. In the other break-out room we had Jack Zoesch and Russell F. Van Sickle with Beggs & Lane.  They presented on Employment & Contract Considerations. Jack & Russell provided feedback and survey result items to consider when looking into company policy regarding employee overall satisfaction.

After our breakout sessions, we joined the rooms back together for our afternoon presentations to wrap up our event.

Mary Griffith, President & Founder of AVISTA Strategies, Inc., did a phenomenal job explaining how to get on the GSA Schedule.

We concluded the educational portion of our event with our small business representative panel discussion. Our small business representatives were: Bradley Cox with Pensacola Naval Air Station, Anita Jackson with Eglin Airforce Base, and Don Zavesky with Florida PTAC.

After the panel discussion, we moved into our networking and happy hour.

Anglin Reichmann Armstrong would like to give a special thank you to all of our sponsors this year.  This event would not have been successful without the partnership of our sponsors and the participation of our speakers.  Thank you to everyone who made this event possible!
